National Purple Heart Day Event – August 7, 2024

We are proud to announce that the City of Boerne will be officially recognized as a Purple Heart City on National Purple Heart Day, Wednesday, August 7, 2024. This significant recognition honors our community’s ongoing commitment to supporting Purple Heart recipients and their families. We warmly invite you to join us for a special event at Boerne Veterans Plaza located at 801 S. Main Street (across from St. Peter’s Catholic Church), starting at 10:00 AM.
Event Schedule:
- Presentation of the Colors by VFW Post 688, Boerne, TX.
- Musical Performance by retired U.S. Army Band Director, Mr. Jim Manzo.
- Choir Performance by St. Peter’s Catholic Church Group Choir.
- Official Presentation by the Military Order of the Purple Heart, San Antonio 1836, to the City of Boerne.
- Unveiling of Purple Heart City Street Signs to commemorate Boerne’s new status as a Purple Heart City.
- Scholarship Award Presentation to The Boys & Girls Club of Boerne, recognizing their contributions to our community.
- TAPS Tribute to honor and remember our fallen heroes who have sacrificed so much for our country.
Following the ceremony, all Purple Heart recipients are invited to a complimentary meal at Compadres Hill Country Cocina. This meal, sponsored by the Purple Heart Project, is a small token of our appreciation for the service and sacrifices of these brave individuals. Chef Mark Sierra, a veteran and founder of Compadres Hill Country Cocina and the Purple Heart Project, will personally ensure that our guests are treated to a warm and welcoming experience.
We extend our gratitude to all those who have contributed to making this event possible, including Day 1 Bags for their support of our veterans’ children and The Boys & Girls Club of Boerne.
Please join us as we honor the bravery and dedication of those who have earned the Purple Heart and celebrate Boerne’s recognition as a Purple Heart City. Your presence will help make this event truly special.
We look forward to seeing you there
